Preparing for harvest season

One of the busiest times of year for crop farmers - Harvest season -  will soon roll around. Don’t wait until the crop is ready to start thinking about combine maintenance, be prepared before the season starts!

Prepping your machinery is one of the most important parts of getting ready for harvest and its best to start early to avoid delays in the field. The first step should be to give your combine harvester a thorough check over to ensure everything is in working condition. Remember to check the combine knives and guards, gain platforms, corn heads, and belts. Its also a good idea to think back to the last time the machine was used. Were there any outstanding issues that haven’t been resolved?

Prepping faming machinery early allows more time for replacement parts to be ordered or time to book in with a mechanic if you need help. You can also get ahead of the game and beat the harvest season rush of farmers quickly trying to book into garages or order new parts.

Bulk ordering consumables such as agricultural oils and lubricants before the season starts is a good habit to get into. Not only will you always have them on hand when you need to top up, you could also get bulk-buy discounts and save money. Take a look at our range of agricultural oils and fuelling solutions online here.

Like any software, the computer systems aboard farming machinery may also need to be updated regularly. There are often yearly updates that will keep the systems working as they should right through harvest season - the last thing you want is for the system to crash and lose all of your yield data.

Remember to stock up on enough fuel to run your machinery - we offer bulk deliveries of gas oil, road diesel, kerosene and premium paraffin across the midlands. Contact us to place your order before the busy season starts.
