Water contamination in your home heating oil tank can lead to expensive damage to your boiler. Excessive rain or warm weather can lead to the build up of water and condensation within your tank, and any water lurking within will be hard to spot because it is heavier than oil and will sink to the bottom.

There are however, some steps you can take to stop water from collecting in your oil tank and getting into your home heating system.

If you are worried that water may have already collected within your heating oil tank you can easily test for it using a water finding paste. If you do find water consider using a water removal sponge or a water tap - a valve that will allow you to drain off any water collecting in the bottom of your tank.

Remember to always top up your heating oil before the tank runs dry to avoid costly engineer’s bills and further problems with your oil heating system. Get a free online quote for Kerosene and Kerosene Plus now.
